Health experts: Moderna, Pfizer vaccines effective against South African COVID-19 variant

Both Moderna and Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccines have a high efficacy rate against the South African virus variant, according to health experts.
Recent studies show the vaccines have efficacy rates in the 90s after worries that the shots may not be effective.
"Subsequent studies have shown that both Moderna and Pfizer actually have pretty good coverage and pretty good efficacy against the South African variant, as well as the so-called British variant," says Dr. Adiran Popp, infectious disease chairman at Huntington Hospital.
The Pfizer shot is also 100% effective is preventing illness among trial participants in South Africa, although the number of participants was relatively small at 800.
