Music and meals were served at Island Park Saturday night for those on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic.
The event was put on by EPG Land and Sea restaurant and Hempstead town officials.
Organizers say it's the least they could do for those who are putting themselves at risk to take care of others. "There are so many people on the front lines and as someone who has been part of that world, knowing that people are looking out, knowing that people are caring, knowing that people are throwing out those social distancing hugs, means a lot," says Anthony D'Esposito, Hempstead Town Councilman.
In just two hours, nearly 300 meals were given out.
