Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
  • Mount Vernon resident Savion Kirton was sentenced to 18-years-to-life behind bars. He was convicted of fatally stabbing a man outside of a corner store in 2019. Police officials say he showed up with a knife after his girlfriend told him the victim brushed up against her while in the store.
  • Police officials are still searching for a third suspect in an armed robbery that happened at a Rite Aid on East Hartsdale Avenue in Hartsdale. Two men were taken into custody. Police say the three men used a knife and gun to steal from the store on Sunday, May 23.
  • A Sleep Hollow police lieutenant is suspended with pay, after being accused of driving under the influence of alcohol and having sexual relations with a female police officer in an unmarked police car. Officials say both adults were off duty, and they were attending work-related celebrations back in April. The incident remains under investigation. The lieutenant and officer could both face disciplinary action.
