Harbor Road collapses, Mill Pond drained due to catastrophic storm

The road collapse left a street with seven households cut off. Fish and wildlife that occupied the pond were killed when the water drained.

Harbor Road in Stony Brook collapsed from catastrophic flooding during storm thunderstorms Sunday night. The storms also knocked out a dam, draining the water from Mill Pond.
The road collapse left a street with seven households cut off. Fish and wildlife that occupied the pond were killed when the water drained.
Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine declared a state of emergency.
The county and Brookhaven Town are hoping for state and FEMA funds to fix the collapsed road, and fix the widespread damage.
