Hampton Bays man arrested for assaulting housemate during dispute

A man has been arrested for an assault that happened on the East End late Sunday night.
Southampton Town Police officers responded to a private residence around 10 p.m. in Hampton Bays for a disturbance involving a group of people.
An investigation revealed two male housemates were involved in a verbal dispute inside the residence that escalated when one of the men repeatedly punched the other.
The victim suffered an extracted tooth, bleeding, multiple contusions, and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to police.
Jose Castro, 48, was subsequently arrested and charged with assault third degree.
Castro is scheduled to be arraigned in Southampton Monday.
