Two people have been arrested after a police crackdown on illegal vape sales in Suffolk County.
Riverhead Police Department’s COPE Division and the Riverhead Community Awareness Program conducted compliance checks on Sunday.
Officials visited ten businesses in the Town of Riverhead in an effort to reduce the sale of vape products to individuals under the age of 21.
Saqoob Naseer, 62, of Ridge, an employee at the 7-Eleven on Old Country Road in Riverhead will be charged with unlawful dealing with a child in the second degree, according to police.
Additionally, Yavuz Erdogan, 55, of Middle Island, an employee at Gotham Smoke, also located on Old Country Road in Riverhead, was arrested for the same charge.
The eight other retailers that officers visited in both Jamesport and Riverhead were found to be in compliance.
Naseer and Erdogan were given desk appearance tickets to return to court at a later date.
