UPDATE: Sunday's event has been canceled due to poor weather, after the show was also canceled on Saturday. But organizers say the Air Show will take to the skies on Monday and all passes for both Saturday and Sunday will be honored.
WHEN: After rain forced cancellations for both Saturday and Sunday, organizers say the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach will take to the skies on Memorial Day -- Monday, May 31, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
WHO'S PERFORMING: Military performers include the Golden Knights, U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II and a US Coast Guard Search & Rescue Demonstration. Civilian performances will include the GEICO Skytypers, American Airpower Museum Warbirds, Bayport Aerodrome Society, David Windmiller, Michael Goulian and Farmingdale State College Aviation.
PARKING: As we noted, parking fills up quickly -- so arrive bright and early. It is crucial that you provide a valid email address at the time of purchase. You will receive a confirmation email, followed by a second email closer to the show which will include a QR code needed for entry. The QR Code will only scan for a one-time use at the designated parking field, and you will be assigned a half hour time interval for arrival; example 8 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Event parking passes will not be required for those arriving by public transportation, however, no other buses, taxis, Lyft, Uber, ride-sharing, or individual drop-offs will be permitted.
HOW MUCH: Event entry is free, but parking costs $10. You need a parking pass for both days, including Friday's practice run.
WEATHER: After a super soaker weekend, the forecast is expected to improve on Monday. Keep an eye on the forecast in the
News 12 Weather Center.
