A group of Jones Beach lifeguards is filing a federal discrimination lawsuit against the state Thursday.
The six lifeguards claim they are being harassed and unfairly disciplined because they are Jewish. Two of the lifeguards say they were threaten with arrest for walking into an administrator?s office without shoes. Another lifeguard claims he was denied medical leave.
A lawyer for the lifeguards says right now he is just investigating certain situations and looking for explanations. Meanwhile, state officials have denied any bias allegations. State officials believe the discrimination suit stems from disgruntled union workers.
