A female student was arrested Friday for making threats of mass harm at Oldfield Middle School in Greenlawn, according to Suffolk County police.

Authorities say the alleged threat was made on May 13. Her locker was searched, and she was arrested shortly after.

This incident comes two days after a teenager was charged with making threats and bringing a BB gun to Robert Frost Middle School in Deer Park.

The Greenlawn incident follows a school threat this week at a Deer Park Middle school and last week at East Northport Middle School.

Jennifer Bohr-Cuevas, a clinical social worker, says the threat of school violence is becoming an alarming trend.

"Parents can help their children navigate some of the problems that may be contributing to why a child would make a threat. They may be getting bullied or have been attacked," she added.
