The Calverton startup behind a solar-powered plane is having an open house today to celebrate its grand reopening.
Luminati Aerospace is displaying its innovative work in aerospace.
Luminati paid over $3 million to buy 16 acres of land at Enterprise Park in Calverton in 2015, but it's still working on a bigger $40 million property deal with Riverhead.
Dozens of former Grumman workers were invited to see the new manufacturing, including former Grumman engineer and Rep. George Hochbrueckner.
“Luminati represents the rebirth of aviation manufacturing on Long Island and that's a wonderful thing,” said Hochbrueckner.
Luminati hopes to have lightweight planes and drones rolling off the assembly line later this year.
