Gov. Ned Lamont confirmed Thursday that the state is looking at places to house unaccompanied migrant children who have been arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border in record numbers.
Lamont says Vice President Kamala Harris asked Connecticut to take in an unknown number of children during her visit to New Haven two weeks ago.
The governor said one potential site is the former Connecticut Juvenile Training School in Middletown, but that mention drew immediate criticism from immigrant and civil rights advocates who say the infamous facility is too much like a prison.
