One local artist designs unique pieces of jewelry. In 2022, Paola Giordano opened her contemporary fine craft gallery called The Pagio Gallery on Spring Street in Oyster Bay.
Her business is called Pagio Jewelry Designs. She turns stones from mines and shorelines into beautiful, wearable art. Paola carries her jewelry line at her gallery and sells the work of other professional artists based in New York.
"I use different stones to create a masterpiece. I am putting something out there that you won't see every day," said Paola. All the beading work is self-taught and done at her fingertips. These gems are treasures, inspiring Paola to create one-of-a-kind statement pieces. "I try to look for the most unique things possible that can't be duplicated or replicated, so it would be difficult to copy," said Paola.
Jewelry designing was a hobby before it became Paola's full-time job. She started this craft to try something new. "I didn't take classes for any beadwork, stones, or metals. I started with nothing on this, and it has grown, and I'm proud of it," said Paola.
Her jewelry has been shipped across the country and overseas to Italy and Japan. She hopes more people will support female entrepreneurs and the arts.
