Gov. Kathy Hochul says that extra protocols are in place at Long Island beaches to monitor for sharks.
The governor says five drones are being added to Long Island's state park beaches this summer following the first two shark sightings of the season.
Additional staff is also being put in place to monitor the areas.
There have not been any shark sightings on Long Island waters this summer yet, but they were seen in Far Rockaway, which is less than two miles away from the Nassau County border.
