A case of tuberculosis has been detected within the Sachem East High School community, according to Suffolk County health officials.
The district has contacted those they believe might have had contact with the individual during the time they were infectious.
A letter from the principal stated that it is recommended that all individuals who might have been in contact to receive a standard Mantoux PPD skin test or Quantiferon blood test.
The Suffolk County Department of Health Services is offering free testing to potentially exposed people.
