Gov. Andrew Cuomo is responding to an Associated Press report that the number of coronavirus deaths in nursing homes could be a major undercount.
The governor says it makes sense to only include people who died on nursing home property.
Critics say residents who died from coronavirus but were transferred to hospitals should be included in the count.
Gov. Cuomo says if New York were to count a death as a nursing home death and a hospital death, that could lead to a “double count.”
