Glen Cove Senior Center allowed Nassau residents 60 and over back inside after over a year away. The center reopened at 40% capacity -- a total limit of about 90 people.
On Thursday, about 22 seniors came out for games, fitness classes and even a 94th birthday celebration.
"This is a treat for me to be out, to come here with all the friends I made here and people that I know and love," says Glen Cove Senior Center member Mimi Simonetti. "It's another family for me so I feel great about being here."
The center's executive director says staff members have been delivering meals to seniors in the area throughout the pandemic, as well as hosting virtual programs.
The center is making sure everyone is practicing social distancing, wearing masks and having staff perform temperature checks.
Reservations are required to come out for the day.
