The City of Glen Cove got a badge filled with honor and history tonight.

Real estate broker Wayne McCann says he was renovating his Glen Cove home back in the 80s when he came across a badge that belonged to Frank McCue, a former Glen Cove police chief who once owned the house.

McCann says he put the badge in a box and forgot about it. He recently rediscovered the badge and decided to give it to McCue's daughter, Barbara Caggiano.

McCue was named police chief in 1928 and held the position for the next 42 years, the longest in state history. Glen Cove's police headquarters has been renamed in his honor.

Caggiano was presented with her father's badge in a City Hall ceremony. She says she is donating it to the City of Glen Cove.

Mayor Ralph Suozzi says the badge will be kept in the city museum.
