In the wake of Sunday’s shooting at a video game tournament in Jacksonville, Florida, local gamers say they are worried about their safety.
Police say the mass shooting left at least 3 people dead, and injured 11 others. Among them is the suspected 24-year-old gunman who died of a self-inflicted wound.
Players say they are usually wearing headphones while participating in these tournaments and are unaware of their immediate surroundings. They say this can make them vulnerable and there needs to be more security during these competitions.
Security experts say the culture has changed and people have to be aware when they go out to public places.
The former Assistant Police Commissioner of Nassau County says it’s important to inform authorities if you notice someone posting on social media or talking about committing a potential violent act.
