A family in Bellport is coming together to make sure four young children have the life they deserve.
The parents of Shantel Scott, Kerri and Kevin Wilson, have taken in their daughter's children and are raising them as their own along with their four other kids.
"It's not about us. It's about them," Kevin Wilson says.
As News 12 reported, Scott, 27, died after suffering a fractured skull last month. Police recently arrested the father of her three youngest children, Bryan Bethea, and charged him with manslaughter.
Officials say he beat Scott to death at a house party.
As the family adjusts to their new life, relatives are holding a fundraiser this week to help make things a little easier and try to raise funds for a minivan.
"I just think it would be a big huge stress relief to allow her to get the job done safely," Kevin Wilson says.
Kerri Wilson says she is still doing everything she can to make sure that her daughter's memory lives on and that her kids have everything they need in life.
