Friends and family gathered Saturday to mourn a Port Jefferson Station teenager who life came to a tragic end in an alleged drunk driving accident. Mourners came to St. Anthony of Padua in Rocky Point to say goodbye to Shannon Megarry, 16, who was also baptized in the church. The high school junior was killed Tuesday night when the car she was riding in, slammed into a parked van in Port Jefferson Station. The driver, 17-year-old Vincent Cocco from Centereach, has been charged with drunk driving in the accident. He is currently out on bail.
Mourners remembered a girl known to make everyone smile. Two other passengers were injured in the crash.
