Waiters and waitresses worked to raise money today for the families of the five teens who were killed in a Farmingdale crash one week ago.
The waitstaff at the Friendly's on Route 109 decided to donate half of their tips for the day to help the families.
"Our manager came up with the idea to just pool our tips together for the families," said server Brian Thompson. "Five families weren't expecting to bury their kids. We thought it would be a nice thing to help with the funerals."
Last weekend, a car carrying five teens swerved into oncoming traffic on Conklin Street and slammed into an SUV. All five teens were killed, and two people in the SUV were seriously injured.
There is still no word on what led to the crash.
