A Freeport man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer early Saturday morning.

It happened just before 2 a.m. Saturday in Uniondale. Officers responded to the Frontera Bar on Nassau Road for a report of a man causing a disturbance.

When police arrived, they say Luis Meza refused to leave.

As officers placed him under arrest, they say Meza punched an officer in the face.

Meza is due in court on Sunday.
