Founder of Manorville's Long Island Game Farm retires after 5 decades
The owner of Manorville's Long Island Game Farm has called it a career after five decades at its helm.
Diane Novak founded the farm with her husband in 1970, and is now passing the farm over to her daughter Melinda Novak, who says she will keep operations going and continue to make improvements.
The park is currently closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Diane says Manorville was quiet in the late 1960s. She says they used ideas from other places like Catskill Game Farm in order to build their own spot.
She says her and her husband wondered if anyone would come when they first opened -- but they did and it became a popular Long Island destination.
"Diane really cares about how the gardens look. She spent a lot of time making the farm look special," says head keeper Jennifer Riehl.
