A former NYPD police officer is facing hate crime charges after being accused of spray-painting anti-Semitic messages.
Investigators say that Michael Setiawan is shown in a photo scrawling anti-Jewish symbols and slurs in an Orthodox neighborhood in Brooklyn.
The messages were found on 15 vehicles and four buildings, including a religious elementary school.
Setiawan's parents say they don't know why their son left the NYPD. They say he's suffered from mental health issues and has been depressed since leaving the department.
