At a rally Sunday in Brentwood, Democrat Brian Foley made a final push for votes in his bid for the 3rd Senate District seat.
With Gov. David Paterson stumping alongside him, the Brookhaven town supervisor touted himself as the candidate for change.
?We were able to turn around the Town of Brookhaven ? and that's what we need to do in Albany,? he said.
Foley's opponent in the race, incumbent Caesar Trunzo (R-Brentwood), has held the seat for 36 years and says he doesn't plan on losing it this time around.
?I've been elected by the people over and over again,? says Trunzo. ?And so, I have the experience and have satisfied many, many people who are supporting me at this stage of the game.?
This isn't the first time Trunzo has faced a challenger named Foley. In 1982, Brian Foley's father, John Foley, lost his bid to unseat Trunzo in the state Senate by almost 8,000 votes.
The outcome of the Trunzo-Foley race will soon be in the hands of Long Island voters on Nov. 4.
