A fast-moving fire ripped through a store in Elmont overnight, destroying the building.
The flames broke out shortly before 10 p.m. at the 99 Cent Time store on Elmont Road. The owner of the building tells News 12 that the fire sparked in the basement before spreading to all three floors of the building, including vacant offices upstairs.
Video from the scene shows firefighters responding to the blaze as thick, black smoke pours from the building.
Authorities say more than 200 firefighters responded to the scene, and it took about two hours to bring the fire under control.
The store had already closed for the day, and nobody was inside at the time. Police say no injuries were reported.
The cause is unclear at this time. Building owner Mohammed Abukiush says he plans to rebuild.
