The site is located at the West End of Jones Beach and opened at 10 a.m.
News 12 was on-site where cars could be seen pulling up and drivers were asked if they had an appointment. At this point, only people who make appointments are being allowed to be tested.
The drive-through's hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Getting an appointment does not require a referral from a doctor, but when a person calls the hotline, they are asked a series of questions to determine whether an appointment is needed.
As of Tuesday morning, there are at least 131 cases of COVID-19 in Nassau County and at least 84 in Suffolk County.
"We are going to use proper official channels between Nassau County and the New York State Office of Emergency Management to prioritize testing for first responders, for health care providers and people with underlying medical conditions," says Nassau County Executive Laura Curran.
Suffolk is also set to open up a drive-through testing soon. The location has not been disclosed.
