Complaints from neighbors to police about fireworks in Baldwin last night led to a tense overnight standoff.

Police received multiple calls from neighbors about loud, nonstop fireworks coming from the Bay Front Drive home. According to police, a man ran inside the home when officers arrived and locked the door.

Hostage negotiators were called to the scene, but authorities determined there was no one else inside the home. The man surrendered to police just after 7 a.m. today following a 10-hour standoff.

Nassau police have not released the suspect's name, but say he is being evaluated at Nassau University Medical Center.
