Firefighters, police team up to rescue dog from cesspool in Melville

The Melville and Huntington Manor firefighters teamed up with Suffolk police to rescue a dog from a cesspool.
The incident happened Wednesday night at a home on Eastfield Lane.
The Melville Fire Department got a call around 10 p.m. and when they got to the house - they found a dog named Duke about 12-feet-down in the water and clinging to a ladder inside the cesspool.
The Huntington Manor Fire Department Technical Rescue Team and Suffolk Police Emergency Services came to the scene.
The departments used a rescue tripod and were able to lasso the dog and bring him to safety.
Duke was taken to a nearby emergency veterinary center for treatment.
