Firefighters battled two house fires in both Suffolk and Nassau County communities on Christmas Eve.
The Red Cross said approximately three families consisting of 18 people were displaced after a fire tore through their Central Islip home.
Fire officials said it took more than two hours for 10 fire departments to knock out the flames at the home on Mrytle Avenue.
The call for that fire came in around 6 p.m.
Over in Nassau County, officials said a call came in around 8 p.m. for a fire at a home in Oceanside.
Crews said once firefighters arrived on the scene on Chance Drive, the entire home was up in flames.
Fire officials said nobody was inside the home at the time.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office was investigating the cause of the fire as of Sunday night.
