An NYPD officer from Hauppauge has been accused of serving as a lookout for a cocaine ring.
Federal prosecutors say officer Amaury Abreu, 34, explained law enforcement methods to the ring and performed warrant checks on its members.
Abreu also distributed cocaine and traveled to the Dominican Republic in January and February to meet with leaders of the group, prosecutors say.
Feds added that the owner of Junior's Produce in Uniondale is also accused of receiving cocaine concealed in cardboard tomato boxes.
The NYPD says Abreu is a nine-year veteran on the force. He has been suspended without pay.
Abreu has been released on $1 million bond.
