The New York Fire Department?s emergency medical responders will soon get new uniforms protecting them from day-to-day dangers according to the New York Post.All 2,800 emergency responders will soon wear space age hazmat suits as their new uniform. They will be outfitted in tan jackets, pants, boots and gloves. EMS Bureau Chief John J. Peruggia says the workers are going to be well protected and will be able to respond to just about any kind of emergency.The suit is made of a blend of Kevlar and PBO?s, a light-weight breathable material that prevents rips and burns. The material also acts a barrier between human and chemical fluids. The chief also says the suits are comfortable to wear. There is no word on when the FDNY?s EMS crews will be getting the new uniforms.
