The East Patchogue family, who saw their Christmas presents stolen right underneath their noses by a real-life Grinch, is back in business tonight after an outpouring of community support.
On Sunday night, burglars broke into the Sabolenko home, stealing all of their presents while also trashing the house. The incident left 12-year-old Madison Sabolenko in tears.
Less than 24 hours later, Christmas gifts, donations from Good Samaritans across Long Island, are pouring in. One donor, John Thiessen, of Wantagh, heard of the story on News 12 Long Island last night and went out and bought electronic games, gift cards and toys for Madison and her brother, Matthew.
In addition to the gifts, several companies across the island have offered to do home repairs and install a security system in the Sabolenko's house for free.
