The family of a slain New Cassel woman has released recorded phone calls from her killer threatening murder.
Marlon Fann, 34, was sentenced to 23 years to life in prison last week for fatally shooting 23-year-old ex-girlfriend Merline Port-Louis in her driveway in June. The Port-Louis family is suing Nassau County, saying police failed to provide adequate protection. Fann had previously served time in prison for slashing Port-Louis, and Merline?s mother, Huguette, says the threats began shortly after he was released. Port-Louis had an order of protection against Fann and had been issued a panic button to call for help in the event he showed up.
The recorded calls include Fann telling Port-Louis his plan to kill their child in front of her, then murder both her and himself. A chilling audiotape of Port-Louis? final moments, which included her pleas for help and the gunshots that followed, was played last week.
