A group of Long Islanders raised thousands for charity while taking their shot at the $1 billion Mega Millions jackpot.
Jennifer Biren entered Thriftway Cards and Gifts in Plainview with an envelope packed with cash from members of her Facebook page, Take 2 Plainview Moms.
“It’s $10 to play lotto and $2 is given to charity,” says Biren. “For local charities, with COVID it’s been very difficult to do any in-person fundraising. So I thought it would be a great way to raise cash for them while playing lottery.”
Biren says the group has over 1,000 members - meaning that today alone they raised more than $2,000 for charity.
