Long Islanders looking to get away for Memorial Day weekend are being warned to leave extra time for their journey.
AAA says about 38 million people will drive at least 50 miles to their destination. That's about 700,000 more than last year, and the most since 2005.
Experts say one big reason is because the gas prices are the lowest they have been in more than a decade. The average price for a gallon of regular gas on Long Island is $2.46.
