The Oyster Bay home of George Washington's secret agent
Robert Townsend is a piece of living history and a lesson on Long Island life
in the 18th and 19th centuries.
First stop at the brand new education center - you'll see
four portraits, the main characters who lived at the home, and you can use
augmented reality to hear their stories.
You'll also learn about the lives of the enslaved people who
lived there.
"It's very important to us that you get the full story
and I think that's a great way to celebrate Black History Month," says
Harriet Gerard Clark.
And just in time for Valentine's Day, don't miss seeing the
first documented Valentine written there in 1779.
Next go inside the historic home, you can look around on
your own or use the AR experience for a guided tour.
The rooms are set up to reflect what family life was like at
that time
