Seven households in Head of the Harbor are cut off, after their private road partially collapsed during the storm earlier this week.

Mill Creek Road is a dead-end street, where vehicles can no longer go in or out.

The street is right next to Harbor Road in Stony Brook which also collapsed when a dam failed and water rushed out of Mill Pond.

The seven households are now trapped. Very few residents have vehicles on the other side of their closed street.

Residents are asking the Village of Head of the Harbor for a temporary roadway to another nearby street. It’s not clear if that will be built, because it would involve constructing a driveway on someone else’s property.

It’s not known when the damaged street will be fixed.
