News 12 has exclusively learned that Nassau County Legislator Josh Lafazan is running for Congress.

Lafazan announced his campaign Monday morning to be the next U.S. congressman for the 3rd district in New York. The district includes most of the north shore of Long Island and expands from northwestern Suffolk County, across northern Nassau and into far northeastern Queens.

If Lafazan is elected, he will be the youngest democrat in Congress at age 27.

Lafazan is currently serving his second term as a legislator where he represents Nassau’s 18th Legislative District.
