Ex-NY Senate leader, son indicted anew in corruption case
(AP) -- The former leader of the New York Senate and his son face new charges in a federal corruption case brought against them in New York.
A rewritten indictment Tuesday levels additional conspiracy and extortion charges against 67-year-old Dean Skelos and his 32-year-old son, Adam.
Authorities allege at least $300,000 was illegally steered to the son.
Dean Skelos was New York state's most powerful Republican when he was arrested. The rewritten indictment claims Adam Skelos obtained a job through his father's influence and then didn't go to work. It says he boasted he didn't have to because his father was Senate majority leader.
Skelos has said he will fight the charges and that he and his son will be vindicated. His son's lawyer has said Adam Skelos is not guilty.
