Concerns over the spread of coronavirus have led several organizations to cancel upcoming events.
Home Depot has canceled this month's kids workshop at all of its Long Island locations.
A spokeswoman for Home Depot tells News 12 in part, "Most of our workshops are attended by 100-plus people who spend extended time in close proximity to each other. Knowing some people might not be comfortable with that, we felt it was the best decision to pause and evaluate the best way to move forward."
Another place on Long Island where concerns are now part of many people's everyday reality -- libraries.
The Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library's Director Michele Vaccarelli says they have ramped up cleaning. About a week ago, they started paying extra care when it came to wiping down railings, doorknobs, chairs, the service desk, computers, keyboards and in the bathroom.
While inside the library they do have enhanced cleaning measures, the library director says at this time, they have had no discussions about canceling any programs
Vaccarelli says they will continue take all the measures they can to protect patrons.
The Home Depot spokeswoman says stores are still offering kids and their families the workshop kits and aprons to take home.
