EPA: No radiation spike found in Mattituck despite rumors

Many Mattituck residents are on edge and confused following rumors about high levels of radiation in their North Shore town on the East End.
The rumors originated on the Nuclear Emergency Tracking Center website, which claimed radiation levels spiked 156 times higher than normal last week. The site said the town was "blasted with high energy gamma radiation from an unknown source."
The Environmental Protection Agency says the website is not a government source. A spokesman also confirms it has no data that shows any spikes in radiation.
Suffolk County sent out its radiation truck from the Office of Emergency Management and says it found nothing significant.
The Nuclear Emergency Tracking Center website says it is based in Arizona, but doesn't provide any contact numbers.
