Lines were long, but patience was short for many Long Island travelers determined to fly out of JFK International Airport Friday.
Many say they showed up earlier than normal to deal with heightened security and new restrictions, but still faced delays longer than they anticipated. Despite a critical terror level on all flights between the U.S. and England, officials are assuring the public it is safe to travel.
British police say they have originally detained 24 people suspected of involvement in the terrorist plot to blow up U.S.-bound planes, but one has since been released. Pakistani officials add they have captured another who they call a key organizer of the plot. Officials say a handful of suspects are still on the loose.
