The Town of East Hampton is asking the state to restrict hotel and motel operations.
In a letter to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the town says, "...we fear that adding hotel and motel visitors to the mix will simply overwhelm our town, creating an untenable, and avoidable, surge in the ongoing public health crisis."
East Hampton officials say they'd like to see hotels and motels reopened later in the state's reopening process.
As of now, those businesses are deemed "essential" by the state and can operate.
