19-year-old driver killed in Southern State Parkway crash

State police told News 12 that a driver was pronounced dead at a hospital.

A 19-year-old driver was killed Sunday morning in a car crash along the Southern State Parkway.
It happened at 5:37 a.m. in the westbound lanes near the Meadowbrook Parkway exit.
State police told News 12 that Mia-Renee S. Edwards, of Hempstead, veered from her lane and lost control before hitting a tree.
Edwards was pronounced dead at a hospital. There was no word on any other injuries.
Multiple lanes were closed this morning, but reopened around 10:55 a.m.
