Downed powerline causes truck fire in Allendale

The Allendale police and fire department responded to a vehicle fire caused by a falling powerline on Friday night.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m., officials were dispatched to the scene and found a utility truck on fire due to an energized power line.

The truck is owned and operated by Atkins Electric Company of El Dorado Arkansas, and the truck team was part of a storm response team working as mutual aid for Orange and Rockland Utilities.

Once the power was shut off, the Allendale Fire Department extinguished the flames. The surrounding area experienced a brief power outage.

A lineman worker from the electric company suffered minor injuries.

Orange and Rockland Utilities worked throughout the night to restore power to the area.
