Neighbors say they are in shock after learning that one of the dogs involved in the mauling of an East Meadow boy Friday, was deemed a dangerous dog in 2004. Police say Jasmine, the female rottweiller, had previously attacked and killed a pet rabbit. According to police, this means the dog had to be licensed, confined and wear a muzzle when she was walked on a leash. But the dogs, belonging to 24-year-old Edward Kelly, were loose on Friday. Matthew, his grandfather and his sister were out for a walk when the dogs attacked the 4-year-old boy. Neighbors say the dogs should be put to sleep. All three dogs involved in the attack are confined in the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter. Kelly was issued six summons, because the dogs were not on leashes and were unlicensed.
