The Diocese of Rockville Centre filed a new reorganization plan Friday in their attempts to settle claims from sex abuse survivors and navigate bankruptcy.
Under the proposal, the Diocese, parishes and other parties would contribute at least $180 and $200 million, not including potential insurance money to settle 600 allegations of child sex abuse.
The proposal comes two years after the Diocese of Rockville Centre filed for bankruptcy and one week after a committee who represents all survivors suggested a $450 million payment.
The committee tells News 12 it is not happy with the latest proposal and that it cannot decide if the Diocese's plan is fair when it conceals its true wealth.
