The Diocese of Rockville Centre is facing another lawsuit in connection to alleged sex abuse by a priest.
As News 12 has reported, Father Gregory Yacyshyn was accused of sexually abusing a young girl at St. Francis of Assisi in Greenlawn over a decade ago. A lawsuit was filed last year in that case. Now, a 20-year-old Greenlawn man also claims he was abused by Yacyshyn between 2001 and 2003 at the same church, starting when he was just 5.
According to attorneys, the alleged victim came forward after learning Father Yacyshyn still worked at Saint Jude's in Mastic Beach.
The lawsuit, which he filed on Monday against the diocese, seeks an unspecified amount of money in damages and calls for the Diocese of Rockville Centre to remove Father Yacyshyn from the ministry.
The Diocese of Rockville Centre released a statement saying it is cooperating with law enforcement agencies.
"As with the other matter that includes similar allegations, the Diocese of Rockville Centre intends to address the claims vigorously in a court of law," the statement said.

The 20-year-old Greenlawn man is expected to file a police report about the incident within the next few days. The first case was investigated by Suffolk County police, but Yacyshyn was never charged.
