A Merrick woman with chronic kidney failure had her holiday wish slip right through her fingers, and now she is searching for a new hope.
Alice Dillon receives dialysis three times a week while she waits for a donor to replace her failing kidneys. After plastering Merrick with flyers asking for a donor, a Merrick man, who requested anonymity, volunteered. Unfortunately for Dillon, the man had a medical problem that prevented him from donating his organ.
Dillon and her family found out last week of the problem and began posting new flyers immediately. Dillon's family members are not matching donors. The donor needs to have O positive or negative blood type.
